This is a glimpse into Sheriff Bosenko's version of the second amendment. One where a government official must be involved to filter out who is and is not allowed to exercise the right to bear arms in the name of public safety. This is the kind of philosophy that subordinates individual rights to the whims of an authoritarian for the alleged benefit of the community, while denying a fundamental liberty to bear arms for self-defense.

Discretion is nothing but a fancy word for cronyism, bigotry, and tyranny...And Sheriff Tom Bosenko not only supports such abuse of power, but engages in it.

The safety of the citizens of California requires that the discretion regarding procedures and requirements for eligibility for the issuance of concealed weapons permits must rest with the issuing authority. This authority to issue concealed weapons permits should be limited to the law enforcement executives (Sheriff or Chief of Police) within each applicant's county or city of residence. The application process, requirements and subsequent determination for or against issuance, should be based on reasonable local jurisdictional standards that each county’s law enforcement executives are best positioned to determine.

Such an important privilege requires constant law enforcement monitoring and review to ensure compliance with the conditions of each concealed weapons permit as violations of these conditions may result in the immediate revocation of this privilege by the issuing Sheriff or Chief of Police.
