The CPUC just voted unanimously to raise everyone's rates to cover gas pipeline upgrades and inspection costs because of the fatal gas pipeline explosion in 2010 near San Francisco.  Non-gas users will also have their rates raised.  Why can't everyone help pay for those of us who don't want a SMARTMETER?  Why isn't PG&E willing to look into programs such as letting us read our own meters to reduce costs instead of trying to bully us into the ###!!! SMARTMETER PROGRAM?

Woman Arrested While Refusing Smart Meter Installation on Her Property Tells Us Her Story

Two Naperville Women Arrested While Protesting the Installation of Smart Meters on Their Homes

Jennifer Stahl has been a strong advocate against the smart meter program in Naperville, Ill., for the last two years. The issue came to a head Wednesday afternoon when she was arrested while refusing to let the utility workers install the controversial device.

“I was protecting my property,” Stahl said in an interview with TheBlaze Thursday afternoon. “I felt my emotion was like a momma bear protecting her babies.”

I just received a postcard about more public hearings being held on the SmartMeters opt out program. Dec 13, 2012 - Dec 20, 2012 throughout California. They are now using the tactic's of trying to tell customers that did not opt out will have to pay more because of the customers that opt-ed out. Stated below:

Will rates increase generally as a result of this application? Yes, In the Commission's Opt-Out Decision, the Commission adopted interim fees to be paid by customers electing not to have a wireless SmartMeter. The Commission will consider revisions to those interim fees in the second phase of the proceeding. If the fees set for customers electing not to have a wireless SmartMeter do not fully recover the cost of the Opt-Out Program, then rates for PG&E's other customers could increase. It's like they want the non Opt-Outers and  Opt-Outers to turn on each other.

I'm thinking of locking my gate again I don't trust PG&E. I received a notice that they were going to be in my area doing maintenance even though I have the opt out tab I wouldn't put it past them to sneak a smartmeter in and once they have installed one it takes an act of god to get them to take it down.

Did you opt out by the May 1st date Craig? If so I don't understand the meter change and would be asking questions also.

I have been assimilated. Came home to notice a 'information' brochure attached to my door knob touting the benefits of my new smartmeter. And there it was, a new smartmeter installed where a functional analog meter was the day before.

Tommorrow I will be going into the PG & E office tomorrow to demand the return of my gate key and revoke access to my property now that my meter information is being broadcast to the world.

I was charged the $75.00 in  May and have been paying the $10.00/month ever since.  Some friends who live about 1 mile away have never even been asked about a Smartmeter.  Great for them sucks for me.  Talked to another friend who's mad because her PG&E bill is now over double since she got a Smartmeter.
