There is going to be a blood drive at the VFW hall in Alturas. I am pretty sure it starts at noon.

As you are all aware, nothing puts a value on blood like putting your own on the line - and nobody knows the value of blood like our veterans. These wonderful people have put their blood in the line of fire - risking their lives - so that we can enjoy the freedoms we have.

While many of us have not gotten (and may never get) the chance to serve their country and their neighbors in so powerful and poignant a way as the heroes who have given of themselves - sometimes ALL of themselves - it is possible to be heroes in another way:

Give blood. Save a life. Send a father or mother home to their children. Send sons and daughters home to their parents. Make a nightmare into a dream.
