Lots of groups! Lots of ideas! Lots of action! ONE great website!
Many groups and organizations are working night and day to capture the heart, minds, and support of the Tea Party, but, who and what is the Tea Party?
The Tea Party is an organic movement that sprang into action after the massive bail outs of 2008. Citizens disgruntled by the aggressive over-reach of government into banks, auto companies, etc… then drawn into focus by the famous rant of Rick Santelli inviting Americans to a Tea Party in Chicago, the tea party sprang up.
Santelli’s Rant: Feb 2009
When we decided to re-brand Resistnet to Patriot Action Network we had discussed the opportunity to change our name and branding to something with Tea Party in the title. We chose to go a different direction because anyone can name themselves Tea Party and attempt to capitalize on the name and movement. That has never been our intention. We instead chose Patriot Action Network and I am glad. Click Here to See what Patriot Action Network stands for!
What makes us the Tea Party?
Our core principles are the glue that unites each of us in this movement. We may not all agree on everything but at the core of our beliefs is a common thread that every Tea Partier agrees with!
Core Tea Party Principles:
1. Limited Government
2. Fiscal Responsibility
3. Constitutional Governance
4. Free Markets
From there you will find as many different “Tea Party” sites and organizations as there are opinions!
Social Issues and the Tea Party:
Social issues are important and I always encourage people to vote their conscience. However, the actual tea party is not about social issues specifically, only as they are covered under the Constitution! Does that mean Tea Partiers don’t care about social issues? NO! Simply it means, the Tea Party realizes that it’s the core foundational principles that UNITE not divide. When you begin delving into social issues you will find that many within the movement will not agree. If it doesn’t UNITE it isn’t a core foundational principle.
We always encourage you to get involved and be active in any area that is of concern to you. However, when it comes to recruiting for the Tea Party, we encourage you to remain steady and stand on the core foundational principle. Regardless of religion, creed, race, etc… most Americans can agree on the basic principles. (except maybe the most progressive liberals!) Use the core principles to turn the tide!
Who is the Tea Party?
Anyone that agrees with the core beliefs is the Tea Party! It’s really that simple!
Who runs the tea party?
You do! By actively pursuing America’s return to the core principles you are the Tea Party! We are all leaders in the tea party. We are all in charge of the tea party. “We the People” are the TEA PARTY!.
How Does Patriot Action Network (a Grassfire Nation organization) Fit into the Tea Party Mold?
We agree with the core principles and we were at the forefront of activism planning and organizing as the Tea Party sprang into action. We were there! Grassfire’s Eric Odom was on the call and organized the Chicago Tea Party. We were one of three organizations that planned the historic March n DC Sept 12, 2009 that brought together 1.7 million tea partiers from around the country. Grassfire’s Darla Dawald (me), was one of the 3 national coordinators for the march!
Time Lapse From Freedom Plaza to Capital March DC 2009
Back in DEC 2008 when Grassfire Nation launched Resistnet.com The Patriotic Resistance, the goal was to resist the progressives move to fundamentally change America. When we started planning for a march on DC in January of 2009, our goal was to unite, equip, and inform citizens of their rights to resist the radical progressive agenda to fundamentally change the US and to stand against bailouts, bigger goverment, and government over-reach.
After we (the movement) won the House in 2010 our goal was to find ways to expand our message, our reach, and the truth, we launched Liberty News and also re-branded to Patriot Action Network. Although we are still resisting, we are a network of engaged patriot citizen activists and we believe that our name should reflect that spirit of activism.
The Tea Party is not a group, a person, a website, or a candidate. The Tea Party is a platform of core principles and if you stand on those principles then YOU ARE THE TEA PARTY!
We don’t purport to speak for you. Our greatest desire is to be a support network for you. We provide tools, resources, community, truth, and hopefully focus. Grassfire Nation, Patriot Action Network, and Liberty News Network are resources for you. We are here to provide tools and support so that the Tea Party activist can accomplish their worthy goals. We are a major pipeline and we need all the pipes connected to us. The reason is simply this: When there is a important grassroots call to action, we need all the pipes to receive the message quickly and then spring into action! If we aren’t connected how will you know.
The Value of the Tea Party Movement:
The value is “United We Stand Divided We Fall”.
The value is that as the Tea Party we have a great opportunity to influence a return to Constitutional Governance, limited government, fiscal responsibility, and free markets! We have an opportunity to continue setting this great land back on course. We have the opportunity to do what is right and preserve the freedoms we hold dear!
We have caused some great changes up to now and we will continue to influence a return to Constitutional principles by our engagement. Individually, it is hard to cause or influence great change… but when we do what we can where we are, we become a collective movement of like minded people, a catalyst for taking back our country!
Get involved, sign petitions, contact your Representatives regularly and let them know where you are coming from. Join a local tea party group, Volunteer on a campaign, Run for office, become a Precinct Committeeman, Join your local Republican group, Join the Pachyderms, Write a bog/have a voice, Become a poll watcher, and or Register Voters, but do something!
What are you doing as a Tea Party Activist to influence a return to our core principles?
Please share your success, your stories, your ideas, and what you are doing to preserve our country and return her to our core principles.

Permalink Reply by donp on February 20, 2012 at 8:26pm I have an old friend who told me that Newt is so very intelligent, thus he is the man. I mentioned that every criminal has pretty sound intelligence; they just can't decide where they should not venture. There’s not a whit of difference between an inmate and a career politician except one keeps plying his criminal skills, while the other takes college courses for education. The good doctor from Texas remains the rare exception. We can trust him, and he educates himself. As Wright says, “look at his record.”
But, Newt appears to be an empty vessel with none but hot air arising therefrom. Let your intuition examine Newt’s face as he unfurls his verbosity for others to see. Glib orators don't mean they necessarily speak the truth. When we commanded Speaker Newt to obey our basic American law he ignored it.
The Rothschild’s dynasty, together with Rockefeller, control the elections as well as the fed and the entire governing apparatus in this country, but not Dr. Paul.

http://theuglytruth.wordpress.com/2012/01/31/newt-gingrichs-deep-ne...
If elected, Gingrich would be the first American president to emerge from the dark think-tank world born in the Reagan era that gave us the Iraq War and lusts now for an Iranian reprise. A Likudnik version of the Manchurian candidate, Newt has spent much of his post-Congress life in the grasp of warrior colonies like the American Enterprise Institute (AEI), the think tank where he became a senior fellow two months after he stepped down as speaker in 1999, remained until he declared for president last May, and worked at times alongside Dick and Lynne Cheney, Richard Perle, John Bolton, Michael Ledeen, and Paul Wolfowitz, the first Bush battalion to euphemistically land in Baghdad, self-dispatched well before 9/11. ..."
"Gingrich’s ties to the cabal that gave us the Iraq War go back at least to the mid 90s, when he took over the House. In August 1994, he went to Israel with his then wife Marianne on an eight-day trip paid for by AIPAC, the premier pro-Israel lobby. By her own account, that’s when she met Robert Loewenberg, who ran both the Israel Export Development Corporation (IEDC), a business group championing a tax-free, high-tech trade zone, and the Institute for Advanced Strategic & Political Studies (IASPS), a think tank with ties to the Likud Party that resembled AEI’s ties to the Republican Party in the U.S. A job for Marianne with IEDC almost immediately materialized, offered shortly before Gingrich’s smashing victory that November, when the Republicans retook the House for the first time in 40 years and Newt was elected speaker. Newt was simultaneously discussing trade policy with Israeli officials. Marianne got a promotion soon after Gingrich became Speaker, though she’d only been with the company a couple of months."
The American Enterprise Institute is a community of scholars and supporters committed to expanding liberty, increasing individual opportunity and strengthening free enterprise. AEI pursues these unchanging ideals through independent thinking, open debate, reasoned argument, facts and the highest standards of research and exposition. Without regard for politics or prevailing fashion, we dedicate our work to a more prosperous, safer and more democratic nation and world.
AEI is a private, nonpartisan, not-for-profit institution dedicated to research and education on issues of government, politics, economics and social welfare. Founded in 1943, AEI is home to some of America's most accomplished public policy experts. AEI's purpose is to serve leaders and the public through research and education on the most important issues of the day. AEI research is conducted through seven primary research divisions: Economics, Foreign and Defense Policy, Politics and Public Opinion, Education, Health, Energy and the Environment and Society and Culture. It also works through several specialized outlets, such as the National Research Initiative (which sponsors research by university-based scholars), the AEI Press, the Enterprise Blog and The American, AEI's online magazine.
Approximately 185 people work at AEI's headquarters in Washington, D.C. In addition, about 50 adjunct scholars and fellows, mainly at research universities around the United States, conduct research for AEI and participate in its conferences. In all our endeavors, AEI trustees, scholars and fellows, and officers and staff are responsible for maintaining the highest standards of integrity, intellectual rigor and excellence--and for sustaining AEI's founding commitment to open inquiry, lucid exposition, vigorous debate and continuous improvement in the institutions of American liberty. The American Enterprise Institute’s governance is overseen by our Board of Trustees, composed of leading business and financial executives. The Institute’s research agenda and scholarly appointments are reviewed by our Council of Academic Advisers, a group of distinguished outside scholars. AEI’s day-to-day management comes from the officers on our executive team.
The American Enterprise Institute sponsors original research on the world economy, U.S. foreign policy and international security, and domestic political and social issues.
The American Enterprise Association (AEA) arrived in Washington in 1943, in the middle of World War II. In Congress there was talk of making wartime price and production controls permanent when the war ended to prevent another depression
Steve, More negative spin ??
Here's the other side of the story regarding (AEI) American Enterprise Institute. If you read the above story and check the links you will find that Newt Gingrich is not listed on the Board of Trustees, Council of Advisors, nor is he an officer of the organization.
Instead of attempting to trash a GOP candidate, why don't you try putting up something positive about Ron Paul. Viewers might find that refreshing.
Permalink Reply by Steve's Worldview on February 21, 2012 at 1:08pm Nancy, all I'm trying to do here is post information about candidates for president for our members to consider. If it results in the "trashing" of neocon "think tanks" whose informational postings whitewash their real objectives and GOP candidates who do not support our core values of limited government, fiscal responsibility, and adherence to the constitution, then such a result is in my opinion a good thing.
You are to be commended for posting this article for it has our members a chance to converse with one another and express differing points of views. Many have done so. This serves to facilitate the process of allowing each member decide for themselves after giving due consideration to the various conflicting points of view and then doing their own research. As you have no doubt noticed, my efforts have been focused on exposing what I believe are the evils of the PNAC neocon agenda espoused by candidates such as Gingrich:
"Let’s be honest, quite a few Americans love a good war, especially those Americans who have never had to bear witness to one first hand. War is the ultimate tribally vicarious experience. Anyone, even pudgy armchair generals with deep-seated feelings of personal inadequacy, can revel in the victories and actions of armies a half a world away as if they themselves stood on the front lines risking possible annihilation at the hands of dastardly cartoon-land 'evil doers.' They may have never done a single worthwhile thing in their lives, but at least they can bask in the perceived glory of their country’s military might.
This attitude of swollen ego through proxy is not limited to the 'Right' side of the political spectrum as some might expect. In fact, if the terrifyingly demented presidency of Barack Obama has proven anything so far, it is that elements of the 'Left' are just as bloodthirsty as any NeoCon, and just as ready to blindly support the political supremacy of their 'side' regardless of any broken promises, abandoned principles, or openly flaunted hypocrisies. No matter how reasonable or irrefutable the arguments against a particular conflict are, there will always be a certain percentage of the populace which ignores all logic and barrels forward to cheerlead violent actions which ultimately only benefit a select and elite few."

Numerous articles about Gingrich and the neocon agenda are posted on the following group site:
Neocon Watch - Patriots Evaluating Phony Conservatives
http://24hourpatriots.com/group/neoconwatchpatriotsevaluatingphonyc...
I've also posted a considerable number of articles advocating the nomination and election of Ron Paul on one of our other group sites:
Ron Paul for President 2012
http://24hourpatriots.com/group/ronpaulforpresident2012
Steve, I can certainly appreciate your desire to provide viewers of 24 Hour Patriot's site with information.
With that in mind, I respectfully ask you to consider this. Many of the older members here have had the advantage of the information on the 24-hour website. Some, like you, clearly grasp the state of our economic situation in the Nation and it's various complicated issues. You and others here are obviously way ahead in the game.
But now it's election year... and there's a growing interest in the Tea Party Movement and what it really stand's for. Perhaps for the first time conservative Americans are paying closer attention in the 2012 election process. They desire information other than the spin on prime time TV....and they're fed up with negativity. So, here they are at 24 hour patriots as new members and they seek truth and verifiable facts about all the GOP candidates. Maybe they even seek to roll up their sleeves and help to make a difference in some way.
That Conservative American is me...... and every new member coming in.
Thank you for respecting my opinion as it may differ at times from yours ~~ I will be happy to respect yours by not intentionally offending your intelligence and constitutional right of choice in the election process.
Your fellow Patriot ~~
